People’s confidence in the signal application has increased because it does end to end encryption. Being encrypted end to end saves your messages, photos, videos, voice messages, documents, status and calls and no one can misuse them. so let’s know what is message encryption.
What is message encryption?
Protecting any message means programming your message into a code that is difficult to read and understand. In simple words, encryption is called securing any message through code.
Who can read Encrypted messages?
An encrypted message can be read by the person who has the Description Key. This key is assigned to you when you open your application. Whoever you send this message to, and only you can read this message. The message where it is stored is also encrypted.
What is Cryptography?
The whole process of encryption and decryption is called cryptography. Cryptography technology is used for any information shared between two people, no any third person can read without your knowledge. Be it e-commerce or online banking, all these are safe due to the technology of cryptography. There are also different types of cryptography.
Types Of Encryption or Cryptography:
There are two types of encryption. The first is Symmetrical encryption and second is Asymmetrical Encryption.
- Symmetrical Encryption:
Symmetrical encryption has only one key to encrypt and decrypt. Being a single key, the user who encrypts the data in this process has to share the decrypted key with all the users to whom he sends the information. That is why it is also called Share Encryption.
- Asymmetrical Encryption:
In asymmetric encryption, both the encryption key and the decryption key are different. One is for Key encryption and the other for Key decryption. In such an encryption process, the user keeps the encryption key and shares the decryption key publicly with all the users to whom it sends the information. This process of encryption is also called Public key Encryption.
Signal App’s End To End Encryption Feature:
The end to end encryption feature is used for chats done through Signal Private Messenger. The end to end encryption feature ensures that the message and the call are only between you and your contact. No one else, even Signal, can read, hear and see them.
In simple language, end to end encryption works such that before being sent, the messages are protected with a digital lock that needs a digital key to see or hear which only the person receiving the message it occurs. In between, no one can see, read or hear these messages or calls. It all happens automatically. There is no need to turn on any settings to secure your messages.
